In October 2016, the Center partnered with NYC Council Member Rafael Espinal, NYC Department of Housing Development and Preservation (HPD), and three of our Network Partners to launch the Homeowner Help Desk in East New York. The desk assists homeowners at risk of displacement, scams, and other threats to affordability from a variety of economic pressures. The Homeowner Help Desk includes direct outreach and a series of Help Desk “pop-up” events where homeowners receive advice, assistance, and referral for a variety of issues. Events are promoted through flyer distribution, phone calls, and mailings.
